The rugs we collect from Massapequa, Seaford, Levittown and East Meadow

This is the most lived‑in part of the county, and the rugs are the rugs of homes that get used every day. In Levittown, East Meadow, Seaford and the Massapequas, where many houses have been in the same family since they were built, we collect the hand‑knotted rugs the first and second owners bought in the 1970s and 80s, Pakistani Bokharas, Indian and Chinese rugs, Herizes and Kashans, alongside the newer rugs of the next generation: Moroccans, tufted wool, and the occasional viscose "silk" from a recent renovation. The Massapequas south of Merrick Road and Massapequa Park add the canal‑front houses and the water that comes with them.

Hempstead, Uniondale, Franklin Square, Elmont and West Hempstead are older and more varied in their housing, and the rugs come from everywhere: hand‑knotted pieces brought or sent by family abroad, inherited Orientals from the pre‑war houses of West Hempstead and Franklin Square, and everyday rugs of every kind. A good deal of what we collect here has never been to a plant before, and the difference after dusting and washing is the most dramatic on any route.

Because the plant is so close, this is also the area where drop‑offs make the most sense: most of these towns can reach 44 Executive Blvd in fifteen minutes, and customers who want to watch the inspection and dye test often do.
