The rugs we collect from Babylon, Bay Shore and West Islip
Babylon village, Brightwaters and the bayfront of West Islip and Bay Shore have substantial older houses and the rugs to match: Persians, Chinese rugs and Sarouks from the mid‑century, decorator Oushaks and Moroccans in the renovations, and the salt and damp of the Great South Bay. Amityville, Copiague, Lindenhurst, West Babylon, North Babylon, Islip and East Islip are family neighborhoods with the full range of everyday and inherited rugs, and a lot of canal‑front streets. Deer Park, Wyandanch and Brentwood are minutes from the plant and send everything from hand‑knotted rugs brought from family abroad to the tufted and machine‑made rugs of busy households. Fire Island rugs, which are almost all sand‑filled dhurries, jute and Moroccans, come through the Bay Shore ferry terminal by arrangement.
The defining feature of this route is water. The bay side of every one of these towns floods on high tides and in storms, and the rugs come to us afterward bled, salt‑stiff and beginning to mildew. Days matter, and the route adds days after any storm.
Rugs are rolled pile‑out on a tube and wrapped for the route to Farmingdale.
